In a react application information can be passed down from parent to children components through props. This is a straightforward and easy way for a child component to have access to information that you want it to have. The issue comes when you want to have the child component give…

In JavaScript, the this keyword references a specific JavaScript element and depends on how a function that uses this is being called. In this blog I will go over the functional and method contexts of this.

Through most of my projects during my time at Flatiron School I have been using a fetch request to get information from an API and display it on a frontend application. Now, having gone through the course work on React, I have an understanding on how to not only fetch…

I have always been interested in different coding languages, but growing up in southern Virginia I was not exposed to these avenues when I was young. I mostly grew up thinking that I would go to law school after college and become a lawyer. About half way through my college career, I came to the conclusion that law school was not for me and decided to focus on my political science studies without a clear plan on how I would use them in the job market. After graduation, I got a contracting job with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs as a technical writer without a technical background. A few of my co-workers knew how to code and showed me some basics in our spare time. This re-sparked my interest in code and my passion in learning new things.
